Spain Digital Twin

The Spain digital twin demonstrator allows users to simulate biodiversity effects of placing artificial reefs around floating mussel rafts. The demonstrator is a web application where users can select on a map the placement of new artificial reefs near already deployed mussel rafts (local aquaculture operations). The main objective of this demonstration is to provide practitioners a resource to assist in decision making around the placement of artificial reefs for reaching marine restoration objectives in the area near the Ría de Vigo and Galician a systems, located in northwestern Spain.

Spain Digital Twin Demonstration

This demonstration provides users the ability to simulate mussel rafts influence of area placement of artificial reefs on biodiversity using diving survey data collected in situ from an artificial reef deployed near mussel reefs as part of the CLIMAREST project. The impacts of placement of artificial reefs on biodiversity metrics (e.g., species abundance and diversity) are estimated from toy models created for the demonstrator.
